Luke 9 Paraphrased
Introduction
Jesus now sends out His disciples with authority, showing the kingdom wasn't distant, it was arriving in their generation
This chapter reveals power, identity, and the coming judgment that would be fulfilled within their lifetime (Matthew 16:27-28)
Everything here builds toward the end of the old covenant age and the revealing of Christ in glory
Luke 9:1
He called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to heal diseases
This authority shows the kingdom had already begun breaking into their present time (Luke 10:9)
Their power wasn't future, it was active in their ministry right then

He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick
The message and the power went together, proving the kingdom was real and present
Healing confirmed the authority of Christ working through them
Luke 9:3
